What drew you to coaching, and what led you specifically to contrast therapy and breathwork?
I’ve always wanted my life to instill hope in others. Coaching contrast therapy and breathwork has allowed me to take part in people's healing journey to wholeness. I believe everything we walk through in life can be used for good; my own personal need to heal my nervous system grew a passion to help others in that same way. When you experience something change your life, you can’t help but share it with others, and that is exactly what contrast therapy and breathwork did for me.
What's one misconception people have about cold plunging or sauna sessions that you’d like to correct?
Cold plunging isn’t about toughing it out - the colder isn’t the better. You don’t have to compete with others or yourself. Cold plunging is actually about the nervous system finding safety and rest amidst a challenging and uncomfortable experience. You don’t get the benefits of cold plunging by just staying in for 2 minutes, the benefits take place when your breath is in control, and you stop resisting the cold and find rest in your breath.
What's a moment with a client that's stuck with you — or a visible before/after in how they showed up?
One client came in with their shoulders shrugged up to their ears; you could visibly see how much stress their body/mind was under. They attended my Restore and Renew breathwork class, and by the end of it they left with their shoulders completely relaxed. They told me they didn’t know how to relax before coming to Tevah, and during our session, they felt the stress leave their body.
The next time they came in, they physically looked different; they carried themselves differently - they were at peace. I know that breathwork can change someone's life, but it truly is incredible to see the physical shift in a person as they learn to breathe deeply.
What would you say to someone who's curious but intimidated to try their first session?
You’re not alone! Trying something new is always a bit intimidating, but here at Tevah I can guarantee that you will be met with safety and an invitation to let your body and mind rest. The community we have built alongside our staff and coaches is like teammates cheering you on.
What makes the Tevah community different from other studios or gyms you've worked at?
I haven’t worked at other gyms or studios before, but from the guest perspective, Tevah is a space where every person will feel cared for and like they can genuinely take a deep breath. No performing, no striving, no comparison or pressure, just a space to come and be and heal.
What's your favorite part of a typical day coaching at Tevah?
My favourite part of the day is getting to know guests and their stories and how they have experienced healing, rest, and peace in their life since they’ve come to Tevah. It fills each day with so much purpose and delight because people's lives are genuinely being transformed.
Finish the sentence: "You'll know Tevah is working for you when..."
Breathing deeply is becoming your new normal.
And when you crave a cold plunge on the good days and the bad days.
